I was sitting here for a while and was trying to think of something terribly clever to say, something that's nice about you and maybe slightly deprecating about Ariel. I even toyed with the idea of a sort of short story involving me being in charge of the entertainment for the party that Ariel was throwing for you, a sort of phantasmagoric supernatural affair involving elves, fairies, pixies, unicorns, a hydrophobic dragon named Quigby and several tiny bad-tempered fire imps - obviously for the trick birthday candles - and how everything got out of hand and caused a traffic snarl in KC and how the unicorn got food poisoning at a cheap Chinese buffet - which is not supposed to happen to unicorns, let me tell you - and the dragon overcame his fear of water and joined a jet ski team. But in the end I just didn't have the time to finish the story and to be honest, the elves just weren't holding up their end of the deal. So, anyway, the point is, we hope you had a wonderful, fantastic, birthday and we're all sorry about Ariel. And also, if you guys ran into bad traffic on your way out that evening, it's all Jasper's fault, and he apologizes.
