Lindsay and I are cheapskates, so we started watching LOST when we discovered that our local library had the first two seasons. Season three was a Christmas acquisition, and now we're actually facing the prospect of watching the fourth season in "real time." Unlike 24, individual episodes in LOST are kind of self-contained, and don't typically end with someone hanging off the side of a building or resisting torture--so we might just be able to do this.
Of course, Aidan could have something to say about that.
But the premiere (a two hour edition) is coming up January 31 at 8/7pm on ABC. If you don't feel up to watching the first two seasons, you can download an 8:15 "summary" (you know, sort of) for free on iTunes. We love LOST for the intriguing plot lines (duh), the well-written dialog, the good acting, the compelling characters, and the excellent cinematography. In short, it's a great show.

Have you finished the third season? I've been waiting for this one for a while, too.
Have you gotten into/heard about Find815? It's an alternate reality game (ARG) going on from the beginning of this month until the premiere.
If you feel ultra-dorky about it (clearly I do) you should check it out. Find815.com
Agreed. Awesome show. I found a site for diehard fans - some pretty good stuff you should add it to your reader: http://losteastereggs.blogspot.com/
The first hour of the two hour "Premiere" is a recap of the first three seasons. Don't sweat it if you miss it.
The best analysis/theorizing is Doc Jensen from ew.com.
After last years awful season of 24, LOST is easily the best show on network television.
It took YOU this long? ;-)
Agreed, great show - although some definite storytelling weaknesses in early season 2 and early season 3.
I'm personally in the middle of season three right now, since Jon is forcing it upon me so I can enjoy season 4 with him. It shall be interesting to see the direction they decide to take the show.
Thanks for the links, guys. They've all been bookmarked and/or RSSed accordingly... We haven't finished Season Three yet, although we're closing in, so I'm holding myself back from all the theorizing for a few more days.

I agree. Although I thought 24 took a downhill turn after season three...haven't seen season five, don't know if it's worth it.

Stop showing off your hipness.

Yeah, there are some shaky moments when the show gets overly cocky and deviates from the central mysteries...seems like it rights itself convincingly though.

That's what friends are for.
