Seriously, I want to know. I can think of some obvious answers both via conjecture and via past experience. Pre-interview jitters. That girl. The missed dunk earlier. Etc. But surely we also have more unique, personal reasons for lying awake until 2 a.m., mind running wind sprints, staring at the invisible ceiling.
What're yours?
I started a new book yesterday afternoon, and got so psyched over the main premise that I was awake half the night trying to calm down. Ridiculous, but there it is. I have a little spare time tonight, but I'm afraid to open aforesaid book for fear of a repeat performance.
Has anyone experienced anything remotely like this, or am I on my own here?

What Keeps You Awake At Night?

I totally hear you!
I actually was awake half of the night yesterday, too!! I didn't fall asleep right away, so I listened to a lecture by Hubert Dreyfus about Heidegger (it's totally free on itunes u)and it blew my mind...
It's good to know that there are more people out there like that! ;^)
Too many times to mention. I've learned to program downtime after movies or books, so that I can quiet my mind before bed.
I also sometimes can't let go of my novel if I've been writing late. For some reason, late night television is good for killing off any late night intellectual thought. Ten minutes of "blah blah blah" and my mind is numb and I'm ready to sleep.
FREAK!
