McDonald's Coffee Slaps Starbucks

I can hardly believe this. But if it's true, the days of paying $1.61 for a "venti" (small) coffee at Starbucks may be over.

"We compared the rivals with Starbucks, all in basic black -- no flavors, milk, or sugar -- and you know what? McDonald's beat the rest,'' Consumer Reports said in its March issue.

Are you serious?!? If I can do so without injuring my dignity too deeply, I may have to argue for a McDonald's stop on the way to Minneapolis.

Not to correct you, but I think a Starbucks venti is their largest size. I'm assuming it refers to ounce-age, since venti means twenty.

You are correct Littlepeace. (Tall 12oz, Grande 16oz, and Venti 20oz) I can't believe that Mc Donald's coffee is better. Let me know how Mickey-Dees treats you on your trip AJ. I couldn't do it.

How embarrassing. Clearly, I need to brush up on my Italian. But now some other things are making sense...and all this time I thought the barrista was just being generous!

Didn't happen. Despite my subtle hints, the traveling compadres (my dad and bro) would not buy in. Something about poor taste by association.

Peet's - very good. Tully's - ? Must not have reached the Midwest yet.

Bring on the cc's and I'll be the judge of how much lovin' there should be!

Another vote for McDonald's. And one with considerable strength, at that.

Another vote for the nays. One with devastating implications for manly coffee drinkers. What to do?

I will continue to ponder the McDonald's brew question. In the meantime, I can only pass on such coffee wisdom as I possess. This just in: Beware of Kum & Go coffee. Unlike its relative, the noble Quick Trip variety, it tastes like mud and is to be avoided at all costs.

Don't ask what brought me to the point Kum & Go joe. Yes, the situation was desperate.

Don't hate on McDonald's like the elitists of our day. Every once in a while, a double cheeseburger for McD's uplifts my soul.

Yo Dude!

Isn't that crazy? Well, I just went to McD's yesterday for the cafe, but I really didn't like it. It may have just been a bad store, or bad water. But they do generally have great coffee there! And about .30 cheaper!

Leonard Sweet kinda makes a good point though in "Gospel According to Starbucks". Starbucks isn't just about the coffee, but about the experience. I probably won't be going to McD's to study any time soon...lol.
