I got hold of this book looking to gain some additional insight into "pastoral burnout," the topic of a paper I'm supposed to be researching and writing as we speak. However, a glance at the cover raised some troubling questions. Questions like, Is there something wrong with having coffee cups piled like this in your kitchen? Why do I feel guilty? And Is this what it feels like to be a statistic?
I was briefly concerned, but a cup of Seattle-style espresso set things to rights. Now, back to my paper.

Mmm, coffee, the beloved (ok maybe not beloved) study aid.
Maybe it depends on the number of cups that are piled up?
hehehe i love my "buck-age"....and i'd probably be in a coma w/o it...oy i gotta sleep..and no there's nothing wrong with having that many cups in your sink provided that they are all from today :)
I'd be curious to read your thoughts on "pastoral burnout", as I suspect that is one of the many things my church is going through right now.
Nothing wrong with having that many cups piled up - it just means you've got some liquid courage to attack your paper/project/day...
I'm going to organize an intervention for you, Ariel
Thanks for the feedback, friends. It feels good to be affirmed in my addiction. ;)
Of course, I won't be drinking coffee for awhile now. Early this morning I was awakened by the sound of tinkling glass - as what was apparently a SWAT team invaded our apartment. Only later, when I ventured out of the bedroom, did I realize that all my coffee, in both full-bean and pre-ground form, had been confiscated. Apparently this is what Oneway considers an "intervention."
I've gotta say I underestimated your resources, Oneway, but today after school I went out and bought some more beans. You won't be able to keep bankrolling these operations forever.
Andy, some thoughts on burnout and the causes thereof will be forthcoming...although so far my research has revealed that "burnout," "overload," and "job-related stress" lend themselves to a plethora of interpretive options.
Maybe I should open the topic up as a Blogger Limelight discussion...
