We saw the movie last night, with a couple friends, and were pretty much blown away. I'd say our reactions were shared by the theater as a whole, based on the way the audience interacted with the film: groans, exclamations, occasional laughter.
Huge themes of good and evil, "free will," and sacrificial service are right there on the surface of the story. The Dark Knight absolutely transcends the comic book genre, and I've got to think that this is likely the best film Chris Nolan will ever write and direct.

You can't trust that list. TDK was GREAT, but it's not better than The Godfather. When people see that, they'll revote for Godfather, and all will be right with the world again.
ReplyDeleteThe top 250 list is a great place to look for a good movie you haven't seen or haven't heard of, but please. WALL-E is better than Citizen Kane? C'mon.
I've heard some buzz that the IMD site has been hacked, resulting in some shook-up ratings. And maybe a bunch of TDK fanboys are simultaneously voting it up while voting The Godfather down? I guess the real test is years down the road. But I think Dark Knight compares favorably to Coppola classic.
